Photo: Pär-Martin Hedberg RA IN B I RD A future-proof solution for fairway irrigation Rain Bird designs a hybrid system that puts Bokskogens Golf Club ahead of the game Bokskogens Golf Club in Sweden now features a new hybrid irrigation system from Rain Bird C onsidered by many as one of the best parkland golf courses in Sweden, Bokskogens Golf Club occupies a beautiful landscape that borders Lake Yddingen and is also home to Torup and Skabersjö Castles. Opened in 1963, the club has two 18-hole courses. The Old course has played host to World and European championships including the European and Nordic Tours and Annika Invitational Europe Championship. The shorter Kings course has narrower fairways and smaller greens. Between them is a six-hole short course and a four-hole practice course. The club’s well-known junior programme has raised five European Tour players including Ryder Cup and European Tour winner Peter Hanson. The irrigation system dated back to the 1980s and no longer provided even coverage so regular hand watering was required to maintain high quality playing surfaces.
