The course is situated right inside the coastal dune ridge in a low lying area with a whole system of lakes and kanals bringing water in play throughout the course. The first phase of the works has been the creation of a new green and a series of bunkers. An emphasis has been put on making the bunkers visible, but at the same time blending them into the very subtle contours of the site. Making the new features fit the original course and landscape is requiring a lot of fine adjustments that can only be done by hand using a rake. “I’m working closely with the greenkeeping staff on bringing the improvements to the course. My aim is to get the staff to share my vision for the course and then let them carry it out themselves”. Golf Course Architecture by Caspar Creating and Refining Classics of the Game Having been brought up and lived most of my life in Denmark I have been influenced by many of the great Danish designers and architects combining functionality and aesthetics. “I bring this with me to the courses I design together with a strong passion for getting the absolute best posible solutions for my clients. My mission is to develop golf courses with a clear and unique style that enables the clubs to attract more players”. - Caspar Bay Grauballe Simon´s Golf Ranked as one of the best courses in Denmark the club is now looking forward and making a huge investment in their 27 holes just outside Copenhagen in Denmark. A strategic review of the bunkers has been carried out to ensure that the bunkers are in the right position from both a playability as well as a maintenance point of view. A contract has been signed to redesign and upgrade all the bunkers with a Capilliary Concrete liner and a shallow Durabunker edge. Besides the bunkers a lot more work is planned: run-off areas will be created around the greens, tees enlarged, lots of extra drainage and an upgrade of the irrigation system will be installed. All the upgrades are planned to ensure that the course can meet the player´s expectations and cope with the extreme weather conditions we are experiencing. The project started in March and will be finished in July (Corona allowing).
