The project is focused on improving drainage, greens and approaches. Bunkers will also be reduced in size and made more visible, with some relocated, and a new sprinkler system introduced. Among the most notable changes will be the new third hole, where two greens have been replaced with a single wider green, guarded by a central bunker. Contractor De Ridder BV has handled construction work, and the new greens are expected to be playable in September. Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore has started a renovation of The Serapong course, led by Andy Johnston, the club’s general manager, director of agronomy and resident golf course designer. The project includes grading adjustments to fairways, improved drainage, soil enhancement upgrades and the introduction of new carbon technology on greens, the re-lasering and regrassing of tees, and the installation of fresh liners and white sand in bunkers. “We have also introduced a couple of new surprises with the addition of some more bunkers,” said Johnston. The course closed on 16 March, with work scheduled over the next three months, with the course expected to reopen in October. Photo: Sentosa Golf Club
