Witnesses of Mercy for Peace and Reconciliation
3 After coming out of the two world wars of the last century, with tens of millions of casualties, humanity is still suffering from the war of hatred, ignorance and terrorism. As a result, the international balance of power for the most powerful countries has created indifference to the casualties and innocent victims around the world who die in their thousands on a daily basis, especially in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. The wise men, authors and writers who represent the conscience of humanity, recognised the reality and importance of mercy as a humanitarian condition for enhancing human life and promoting it as a superior human value. They described the meaning of mercy by expressing its deep human significance. The American novelist, Mark Twain, realised this deep, humanitarian meaning of mercy in his quotation: INTRODUCTORY WORDS
