Cruise and Ferry Review - Summer/Spring 2020

3 7 Valencia to build new passenger terminal The Port Authority of Valencia is to launch a tender for a new passenger terminal at the entrance of Valencia’s port this spring. The terminal will be located close to the Spanish city’s public transport network and cycle routes to provide cruise guests with quick and easy access to local attractions. Building a new terminal is part of the port authority’s strategy to manage cruise traffic in a socially and environmentally sustainable way. Multiple public and private entities will be involved in the project to ensure that they can adapt shore excursions and hospitality services to make every passenger’s visit a pleasant, safe and economically profitable experience. The new terminal will also help to boost cruise numbers, which grew moderately to reach 203 calls and 435,616 cruise visitors in 2019. The World Ocean Council (WOC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to collaborate in the development of India’s ‘Blue Economy’.
