5 9 Costa Smeralda Costa Cruises employed the help of Adam D. Tihany for the creative direction of its first LNG-powered ship Costa Smeralda. When she entered service in December 2019, passengers were able to enjoy the ship’s tributes to Costa’s Italian heritage with its Italian- style piazzas and industry-first onboard museum called CoDe – Costa Design Museum. The gallery showcases the “excellence of Italian design” by featuring many of the people who contributed to the ship’s construction. The vessel also offers 2,600 guest rooms and onboard highlights such as the three-level entertainment area, 16 restaurants and ‘food experiences’, four swimming pools, a hammam and a thalasso therapy pool. We are all extremely proud of this important award as much as we are of our beautiful Costa Smeralda. Our new flagship is an unprecedented project, a revolutionary ship in terms of responsible innovation and sensational guest experience. With LNG propulsion, she is a perfect combination of cutting- edge sustainable technology and Italian excellence and design.
