Cruise and Ferry Review - Summer/Spring 2020
9 5 Sky Princess’s luxurious top-deck Sky Suites have been a hit with guests include Royal Princess (debuted 2013), Regal Princess (2014) and Majestic Princess (2017). “Feedback across the board – from crew to guests to stakeholders – to the ship itself and the subtle changes we’ve made has been phenomenal,” he says. He highlights the ship’s two Sky Suites, which have the largest private balconies at sea and are centrally located on the top decks, as a key, headline-grabbing feature. “The balconies provide a fantastic vantage of the top deck Movies Under the Stars cinema screen and stunning 270-degree panorama views,” he explains. “They have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a host of exclusive amenities and sleep up to five guests.” There’s also the redesigned Sanctuary area, a spa-inspired top-deck retreat reserved for adults. “It features an enhanced, contemporary design including twice as many private cabanas as on other Royal-class ships, as well as new lounge furniture and the option for guests to indulge in a spa treatment,” he adds. “From an entertainment perspective, we now have an onboard jazz lounge, Take Five, which aficionados will love. And I’ve been lucky enough to have a sneak peak of our new production show, ‘Rock Opera’, and I can tell you first- hand it is going to blow audiences away!” These enhancements will also feature on Enchanted Princess, which will launch in Southampton, England in June 2020, as well as Discovery Princess, which is debuting in October 2021. “Both are on time and on budget; we can’t wait to welcome them to the fleet,” Caluori says of the line’s forthcoming additions. “Enchanted will include the features that have made Sky Princess such a success, while Discovery Princess will be a further iteration of our Royal- class vessels. Construction will then start on our next-generation ships, which will be our first ships to be dual-fuel powered, primarily by LNG.” What will they be like? Although Caluori says both will accommodate approximately 4,300 guests, he stays tight-lipped about other developments. “Watch this space.” CFR INTERV IEW
