insight into the ways of one of

golf course architecture’s legends.

Gordon’s sharing of his discovery

was without doubt a great gift to

the industry.

During the Second World

War, Gordon married his high

school sweetheart Lois Lukens.

They separated in 1972. Gordon

married Jane DiMeo in 1974. Jane

introduced him to trap shooting,

and he reached a high standard in

the sport.

Following Jane’s passing in 2007,

David became a volunteer at the

Doylestown Hospital, where he gave

more than 3,000 hours of his time to

help others.

David is survived by two sons, David

Jamieson Gordon of Jacksonville,

Florida, and William Freeland

Gordon of Thermopolis, Wyoming,

and a stepdaughter, Lynn Bullock of

Glassboro, New Jersey.

David Gordon worked with his father William to design two courses at Saucon

Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – the Weyhill (main picture)

and the Grace (images below of the ninth hole in construction in 1952)
