F
or almost 100 years, Wilmette
Golf Club in Illinois has
enjoyed substantial play. But
drainage issues have increasingly
plagued this great public venue. The
north branch of the Chicago River
often breaches its banks, leaving this
flat golf course, with little stormwater
management capacity, indefensible.
With a relatively modest budget,
the club hired Martin Design,
led by ASGCA Treasurer Greg
Martin, to develop an improvement
